All In

Ephesians 6:13 “Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Have you ever gone all in on something? I mean, ALL in. Nothing left on the table or held in reserve. You ran until you threw up and passed out. You lifted until your legs buckled. You went down swinging. Whatever it was, you knew then and know now, you gave it everything. There was not one single thing you could have done to go harder.

Have you ever meant to go in on something and had regrets later about what you held back? The ifs can be hard to live with. I hate looking back and knowing that there were things I could have done…and didn’t. Things I could have tried…and didn’t. A little harder I could have run or lifted or a little longer I could have endured or a little better I could have loved.

I don’t know what it will look like when we stand before God. I have heard many theories. But I do know this. I will stand there, with Him and I both knowing my failures. There were battles I lost that I could have won. There was armor I left at home. There were times I napped on the battlefield.

And I don’t want there to be any more of those.

Withstand. Having done all to stand.

What an epitaph that would be for a tombstone. Having done all to stand.

Like William Borden: No reserve. No retreat. No regrets.

Let’s go all in.
